Simple Saturday

We had a great morning with the History Club... in their role as 'Young Consultants' to museums, we were shipped off, by coach, to Avoncroft Museum. There we were instructed to go around the site and compile a list of things we (that's the kids really, not the adults!) thought could be done better. Wow, what fun... a new place we've not visited yet, and all for free! All the buildings have been recovered from around the UK and re-sited here.

I loved this old Mission hall... I wish I'd taken a photo of the outside... it had a really Amish feel to it.

Windmill

This Merchant's House Bubbles declared she would like to live in! Funny how houses seem really HUGE when there is nothing in there... I've obviously just discovered the key to realising you actually do have a decent-size house -----> get rid of all material possessions!

Toll House

Pre-Fab... wow, the kids were really taken with this house! They thought is was great!

Travelling houses.

In the Cells!

The Telephone Exchange had to be the best part for the kids! They could telephone the 'Tardis' aka the Police box and the other phones... funny how fascinating they find the 'old' phone boxes and phones... they were not at all interested in the modern-day ones on display!

Simple Saturday

a bit of exercise...

some quilling (I made the cockrell, Bubbles made the cute sheep!)...

making Cheese Straws... Bubbles' new fave snack!

that's what I like to see... the kids doing the chores! this is Bubbles' first attempt at ironing, and she did well!

... and where was Spike?!... well, he was indulging in a spot of tv watching, snuggled on the sofa!

Simple Saturday

A lovely walk and play at the Wyre Forest with friends.

Planting out the Raspberries, and garden tidy up again... warm sun on a late September day, changing colours, and Sunflowers still making a jolly contribution to the garden

Wow, I'm SO enjoying watching the Staghorn Sumac tree changing colour... I feel so blessed to watch the colours in my very own garden.

Some of the last Sunflowers.

Simple Saturday

Well, it was MEANT to be a Simple Saturday... but it got a bit busy!

I have been wanting to bring in a bit of a study of the Biblical Festivals (they are so wonderful for pointing to Jesus) and having just dug out my books again, I had found that today was Rosh Hashanah - Feast of Trumpets. I thought we'd have a quiet day together, a beautiful meal with best china and we'd dress up and have a fun time together... but it wasn't to be! Which is, of course, fine as we are not tied to the festivals anymore.

Our day started off with History Club at Hartlebury; and then we went to Morrisons for lunch... the best alternative we could think of to fit into our day as a Jewish New Year celebration. There were SO many people around, ugh! But, it was a good meal though.

Then we went to clean the church building, as it was my turn on the rota. It was nice and peaceful there and we were done in about an hour and a half. Then on to Tesco to do some shopping... again, huge amounts of people... it's not that I don't like people... it's just that I don't like them being in the shops I want to go in to!! They make me feel flustered! But, I guess that's what we get for going on a Saturday!

In the evening (when my head had recoverd from a headache... ) I gave the Prayer Board a bit of a make-over.

I'm thankful that our life doesn't revolve around Festivals and Feasts anymore, and that we can come to the Lord at ANY time.. and yet, it is good to look back and remember - remember the Goodness of God, and His provision for us, count our blessings... yes, it DOES do good to remember, as we too easily forget... how good to lift hands in Praise to Him... Jehovah Jireh.

Simple Saturday

Beautiful day for a walk... we went and found Habberley Valley, a place we'd heard was lovely for a walk... and it was! It was a good walk too, exercise-wise! The views were stunning... and we saw a combine harvesting, which was a highlight for those country-lovers among us!

Simple Saturday

Having put some peanuts on the tray on the bird feeder, this is who visited... we watched him eating... and then hopping around the grass picking areas to bury his finds!

Simple Saturday

A trip to Witley Court, and Church...

En masse!...

Kids...

All together...

Belated birthday present!...

Wonderful fountain display...

Very fine organ... the case of which came from the organ Handel played...

Paintings on the roof by Antonio Bellucci...

The kids, learning how one prays in these kind of church buildings!

Homeward bound...

Astonishing findings in our Butter bean plant pods... we thought they'd shrivelled and died and not come to anything... but they have! Wow! And all that from a science experiment!

Our first caterpillar find of the year! Or, as Bubbles calls it... a mothapillar! This caterpillar is of the Buff-tip Moth.

Quite a successful day all round really!
