Psalm 46 - Be still and know that I AM God

God separated the salt water from the fresh, made dry land, planted a garden, made animals and fish... all before making a human. He made and provided what we'd need before we were born. These are best and more powerful when eaten raw. We're such slow learners...

God left us a great clue as to what foods help what part of our body! God's Pharmacy! Amazing!

A sliced Carrot looks like the human eye. The pupil, iris and radiating lines look just like the human eye.. and YES, science now shows carrots greatly enhance blood flow to and function of the eyes.

A Tomato has four chambers and is red. The heart has four chambers and is red. All of the research shows tomatoes are loaded with lycopine and are indeed pure heart and blood food.

Grapes hang in a cluster that has the shape of the heart. Each grape looks like a blood cell and all of the research today shows grapes are also profound heart and blood vitalizing food.

A Walnut looks like a little brain, a left and right hemisphere, upper cerebrums and lower cerebellums. Even the wrinkles or folds on the nut are just like the neo-cortex. We now know walnuts help develop more than three (3) dozen neuron-transmitters for brain function.

Kidney Beans actually heal and help maintain kidney function and yes, they look exactly like the human kidneys.

Celery, Bok Choy, Rhubarb and many more look just like bones. These foods specifically target bone strength. Bones are 23% sodium and these foods are 23% sodium. If you don't have enough sodium in your diet, the body pulls it from the bones, thus making them weak. These foods replenish the skeletal needs of the body.

Avocados, Eggplant and Pears target the health and function of the womb and cervix of the female - they look just like these organs. Today's research shows that when a woman eats one avocado a week, it balances hormones, sheds unwanted birth weight, and prevents cervical cancers. And how profound is this? It takes exactly nine (9) months to grow an avocado from blossom to ripened fruit. There are over 14,000 photolytic chemical constituents of nutrition in each one of these foods (modern science has only studied and named about 141 of them).

Figs are full of seeds and hang in twos when they grow. Figs increase the mobility of male sperm and increase the numbers of Sperm as well to overcome male sterility.

Sweet Potatoes look like the pancreas and actually balance the glycemic index of diabetics.

Olives assist the health and function of the ovaries

Oranges, Grapefruits, and other Citrus fruits look just like the mammary glands of the female and actually assist the health of the breasts and the movement of lymph in and out of the breasts.

Onions look like the body's cells. Today's research shows onions help clear waste materials from all of the body cells. They even produce tears which wash the epithelial layers of the eyes. A working companion, Garlic, also helps eliminate waste materials and dangerous free radicals from the body.

The Outdoor Hour #2

So, this is our second challenge. This week we are challenged to take time to be silent on a nature walk, and to use our senses more to hear, see and feel things around us. I thought this would work quite well... but we had, ooo, about.... 5 mins of silence max! Trouble is, I think it was the snow... to me - bliss, joy, and begging to be enjoyed in silence! The snow seems to spread a blanket of inviting quietness for me... for the kids - well, what can I say! Snow = squeels, laughter, babbling chatter, running, walking, silliness... anything BUT silence really! Ah well! I was just pleased that they weren't moaning too much about being out!

After our walk, we had to brainstorm some words to describe the following things (as you'll notice, they're not particularly 'naturey'!!):

1. One word to describe something they heard : bird, car, plane, crunch, giggle, rustle, 'achoo', sniff
2. Two words for something they saw : slow car, high plane, children screeching, tweeting birds, white snow, icy snow, play-park (!)
3. Three words for something they felt : white crunchy snow, wet cold hands, freezing cold cheeks, cold tingling toes, soft wet snow, lets go home (!)

Snow!

snow Listen to the pronunciation of 1snow
Pronunciation: \ˈsnō\
Function: noun
a: precipitation in the form of small white ice crystals formed directly from the water vapor of the air at a temperature of less than 32°F (0°C) b (1): a descent or shower of snow crystals (2): a mass of fallen snow crystals.

What a lovely way to start December... with a smattering of snow! Bubbles was beside herself with excitement, and declared "If I had to go out to school, I'd not have much time to play in the snow!"... it's always nice to hear when she's glad she's not at 'ordinary' school! She made the cutest wee snowman on Monday...
As you can probably see behind her, there wasn't a huge snow fall on Monday. Tuesday morning we woke to find the ground covered... beautiful white, about 3 inches deep, more in some places. There's something so peaceful about snow *I think*. Go out in it and I want to be quiet and move slowly - almost like it's possible to hear better when this blanket of white is covering the ground. Doesn't seem to have the same effect on the kids... they want to scream and shout and laugh and cry and giggle and run and fall over...!! Ah well, maybe serenity come with age! Here's some images of snow on Tuesday and Bubbles effort at a snowman, which looks more like a kind of duck... but she was pressed for time!

She spent absolutely ages playing around in the snow on her own... poor old Spike, he doesn't favour the snow too much - he like s the idea, but he gets cold and miserable too quickly.

It's been very cold during the day, keeping the snow in place. I was glad not to have to venture out in the car yesterday or today... I'd be fine once at the main roads, but the roads in the village have not been cleared, and I do not much fancy testing my driving skills on a slippery road. I have decided to turn the heating up a bit... I was trying to make us survive on just the radiator in the lounge, with the others coming on from time-to-time as the temperature dips (thermostats on the radiators)... but I've caved in, and turned on another radiator! We could manage fine during the day but come bed time the kids are feeling cold, and my hands have been getting so cold I could hardly type; and we've not been wanting to get out of bed in the morning :o) I've also got chilblains... never had them before in my life... definitely going soft!

Tuesday night brought more now to cover over all the footprints outside... it's been a glorious day - bright blue sky and white everywhere. I wonder how long the cold snap is going to last. We took a lovely walk today... got a bit cold (should have put 2 pairs of socks on, and brought extra gloves) but it was lovely. Here's some pics...

I like this one - can you see our 3 sets of footprints?

Ah... snow on the hills...

I think snow is amazing! In 1925 Wilson A Bentley (aka "Snowflake Bentley") said this:

"Under the microscope, I found that snowflakes were miracles of beauty; and it seemed a shame that this beauty should not be seen and appreciated by others. Every crystal was a masterpiece of design and no one design was ever repeated., When a snowflake melted, that design was forever lost. Just that much beauty was gone, without leaving any record behind."

He took photos of snowflakes... and they are the most amazing things to look at! You can view some of them here and just click the image to enlarge. What an amazing God we have!

Random things!

It's finally Advent, and the kids were pleased to get their advent calendars... we have Lego ones this year.

My hands are terribly dry and cracked again... it's the weather. I am keeping it under control with a mixture of my favourite creams. Trouble is, my hands are in and out of water so much it gets tedious re-applying all the time! Still, needs must. Bubbles usually gets bad eczema on her hands in the winter... they had broken out a bit a wee while ago, but we used the Aloe Propolis and the Hemp regularly and it got better... whether that has helped to keep it at bay for a bit now, I don't know. I'm glad for her though - it's not a nice thing.

I have been making sure we keep up our vitamins at the moment... we still haven't completely shifted the co
ld/coughs that we succumbed to in October. Spike won't take a vitamin freely... I have to crush his and put it in his milkshake in the morning (shhh... don't tell!). If he knew, I doubt he'd want milkshake any more! Bubbles is extremely good at swallowing things and will take her vitamin and medication (for allergic rhinitis) no bother. I've cut down on the amount of pills I've been taking... I quite like lots of supplements... but I'm sure I was beginning to rattle, so have cut down to the following items...

Doesn't Bubbles look very 'odd' with these eyes? Don't know where she found them, possibly at
Dobbies. We found the latest 'entertainment' in Dobbies - these very funny looking polar bears who sing carols and kind of dance too!

We observed Venus and Jupiter the last few days... The picture isn't very good, as my camera wasn't very obliging... however, Venus is the brighter of the 2 planets at the bottom, and Jupiter at the top. Apparantly this is a rare conjunction... so we were very please d to see it, and it was so obvious, that even the kids could observe them without too much direction from me.

The Simple Woman's Daybook

FOR TODAY, 1st December 2008...

Outside my window... Snow! Ok, not heaps of it, just a smattering... but SNOW! What a nice way to start December!

I am thinking... "You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You" Isaiah 26:3. I woke with this verse on my mind this morning... it has been very relevant today - I've had to keep reminding myself to keep my mind on Him because He IS totally trustworthy.

I am thankful for... my children. They may not obey all the time; they mess up quite a lot of the time; they can be noisy when I want to be quiet... but I love them to bits and they are such a wonderful gift from the Lord.

From the learning rooms... our Advent theme - Jesse Tree devotional called "The Glorious Coming" by Ann Voskamp; and our Christmas theme - "Countdown to Christmas" by Amy Puetz. And the usual 'workstations' and every-day learning.

From the kitchen... Baked potatoes & salad, Monday; Soup & bread, Tuesday; Chicken curry, rice & veg, Wednesday; Fish fingers, mash & veg, Thursday; Pasta & Tomato sauce, peas, Friday; left overs and own choice Saturday & Sunday.

I am wearing... trusty old denim long skirt, long-sleeved t-shirt, body warmer, trusty-but-very-old-and-discoloured cardy and socks again... I'm cold today! Must be getting soft!

I am creating... still working on the purses! Hope to start crocheting some simple Christmas gifts soon... not enough hours in the day for doing all I want to at the moment!

I am going... to town to see my Mortgage Broker; to Dobbies; and hopefully out for some lovely walks if the weather stays nice.

I am reading... not very much at the moment! It gets a little dis-satisfying to just read for 5 mins here and there... but I'm doing a little 'speed reading' project - I'll report on it if it works!

I am hoping... that I might actually get some early nights this week! I'm feeling really washed out, so I need to start taking better care of myself.

I am hearing... the clock ticking... something nice and reassuring about the steady tick of a clock.

Around the house... is a little more organised! I started to get on top of things again this morning, and have even organised all the 'house moving stuff' into various individual folders for my sanity!

One of my favorite things... seeing the snow on the hills...

A few plans for the rest of the week: I'd like to get a little rest, enjoy the kids, get out in the fresh air a bit... but mostly, just to take one day at a time.

Here is picture thought I am sharing...
