Meet Spongebob... the grey Squirrel that visits our garden... kind of handy when your doing a Nature study of... squirrels! Spongebob has been in the garden before... but with a bit of enticing with some extra nuts, we managed to get a very clear view of him and his antics. It's a good time of year to be watching them too.
Making a bee-line for the bird table...
... and up he goes!...
... just loving it up there!... pictures are a bit fuzzy through the window... so we venture outside for a clearer shot before he spots us and dashes off...
Bubbles got the binoculars out for a closer look... ah, there's just one thing, she declares... we'll have to re-name it... MRS Spongebob perhaps?!It's been fun watching her, scurrying and burying the nuts... I hope she remembers where they are! We won't be actively encouraging her into the garden anymore though... as she's left a lot of mess...
We also had fun re-reading The Tale of Timmy Tiptoes and The Tale of Squirrel Nutkin... Beatrix Potter brings the animals to life in such a loveable way!

The tree is a Staghorn Sumac... and it is the most glorious autumnal red... it started to turn before most of the other trees around here... just a wonderful sight to see in the garden!
