Snapshot of our week

Great start to the week with Bubbles getting her 1st Trampolining certificate and badge (pretty good going since she's only been going to the class a few weeks!). Well done girl!


New PJs this week... they were meant to be for Christmas Eve... but they kind of got hijacked after I bought them!
We went to the cinema to see Madagascar 2 on Wednesday afternoon... we had the whole of the screen to ourselves! Well, it was 2:15pm! The kids enjoyed the film... I didn't think it that good, but then my views do seem to differ vastly from that of the kids!!


We heard that Woolworths is closing down, and starting a massive sale, so we popped along to the largest one near us on Thursday, thinking it would be quiet as it was late morning... how wrong we were! It was heaving with people! The sale wasn't all it looked like it should be - *50% off everything* had the little words *up to* in the corner... so the bargains weren't that good, not much more than most shops are offering at the moment. Still, I quite like the kids clothes in Woolies, so we managed to get a few pairs of trousers which are much needed, and a party dress for Bubbles and a nice shirt for Spike.

Bubbles had her first experience of the 'dump' this week, when she accompanied Aunt Jill to take some more *stuff* that I'd found that needed to go. She thought is was quite fun throwing all the bits into a big skip. And she had a nice time chatting with Aunt Jill.

We got our lego packs in this week, which we sent off for from vouchers in the paper. They're quite nice sets actually, and even if not built up as shown on the instructions, they'll be handy additions to the lego pot. Bubbles loves to build up lego objects from the instructions provided, so very ably set to. Spike normally starts some, then gives up... his fine motor skills are not that good yet and it frustrates him. However, I was so proud of him as he made up at least 2 of the packs all on his own with very little help from me or Bubbles. I think he got a buzz out of doing it to.
We have seen the moon during the day a lot this week... which got us to wondering exactly why this is so. So, we had a look on the internet and tried to find a simple explanation! Here's what we found (I don't think we fully understand it, but we've made a start!):

The Moon circles the earth at its own pace, not at the same pace that the earth rotates. The moon also has a quirk that it always has the same side facing us. Like if you were spinning holding a ball on a tether, the part of the ball attached to the string is always toward you. Now imagine you and the ball are going around at different speeds. So sometimes the ball is in front of you where you can see it and sometimes it's not. The reason we can see the moon at all is because it reflects sunlight from its surface. The reason you can see it during the day is because it just happens to be in the part of its orbit where it is both in the sky and reflecting enough light for you to see. You might have noticed the closer to the horizon, the more moon you see during the day.

I don't remember too much else about the week... my head has been full of 'house' things and trying to coax the solicitor into action... and I'm tired. Ah well, tomorrow is another day...
