Fireworks Day

We have had an enforced quiet day, since I was waiting for Spike's Occupational Therapist to phone to take me through his report. I didn't know what time of day she would phone, only that today was the day! She finally called at 3pm! So, we just had a quiet day... I had thought of a few things we *needed* to go out and do, but that didn't happen. Tomorrow...

So, it was good to stay in, considering the kids are still recovering from horrible colds and not up for doing too much anyway. We played a few board games together and did some jigsaws, and the kids played together quite well today on the whole. Bubbles made up a few 'outfits' from a clothes catalogue that came in the post, and started making a magazine about cars. She also practiced the recorder a bit (Christmas carols!) and sketched a picture of Spike. Spike enjoyed some time playing on his own too... he just wanted to play with his cars today.

After tea, Bubbles wanted to go out and listen for fireworks, so she got her jacket on and stood in the front garden with her torch. She saw quite a few, and heard more... it's been drizzling most of the day, so the weather conditions aren't the best for the fireworks. This is not Spike's most favoured time of year... he does NOT like fireworks! They are too noisy for him, and he's even worried by them when in the house! He stayed in the lounge, with workmen's ear-guards on, an ice cream, and the tv turned up full blast deafening the rest of us, and the neighbours too I'm sure! (because he couldn't hear the tv through the muffs - they obviously provide adequate ear protection!). Poor wee soul! Noise does trouble him still.
